It’s Avery’s Green Month this May, and we want to inform you why it’s so important for businesses to invest in the future using sustainability and eco-friendly guidance to dictate the way they conduct their operations. For a long time sustainability was seen as either a checkbox for businesses to appear relevant, or a hindrance that would cost more than it’s worth, however that is not the case. Making your supply chain greener no longer means spending more for sustainable goods and eco-friendly equipment. Businesses can save money and the environment simultaneously through smart, green-focused operations that also improve their reputation both within the industry and to their stakeholders. Sustainability is about ensuring that the long-term growth of your business is socially, financially and environmentally viable.
For example, changing your office lights to be set on a timer to reduce the electricity usage within your centres is a simple change that’s guaranteed to save you money over time. Encouraging your staff with wellbeing training and to use reusable containers instead of single-use plastics will reduce unnecessary waste and create more sustainable attitudes within your workplace. A business can assist with this by providing reusable water bottles and mugs, which supplies staff with the means to be sustainable. There are so many quick and effective ways to create a more environmentally conscious workplace that will help you save on money and materials. Want to learn more about how you can influence a greener business plan and reevaluate your mission statement and stance on sustainability whilst increasing revenue and improving relationships with your community? Then learn about our Weaver programme.
Partnering with Avieco, Office Friendly are proud to show off Weaver – our flagship sustainability programme helping businesses make cost-effective, even profitable, changes to their supply chain and operations. Our Weaver programme focuses on the ‘5 pillars of sustainability’: Carbon Footprint, Single-use Packaging, Social Responsibility, Sustainable Products and Waste Management. We provide a tangible way for businesses to show their forward-thinking commitment to a greener future with certification and accreditation available at 3 levels: Blue, Silver and Gold.
Blue is the foundation of business sustainability. You’ll need to take actions in accordance with basic requirements and compliance with the legal minimum of your chosen area of sustainability. Silver is business sustainability in practice. You’ll need to take actions to strive towards a sustainable business, compared to your competitors. Gold is leading with business sustainability. You’ll need to demonstrate how you’re leading on the sustainability of your business, your wider network and community. Demonstrate your commitment and generate new business with a customer base more considerate of a brand’s values and leading in corporate social responsibility.
Spring Forward Promotion:
To show our efforts towards supporting a greener supply chain and to prove how sustainability is an advantage to our members, we launched our Spring Forward campaign to work alongside our existing sustainable, prize-winning incentive Van-Tastic 2021 and our Weaver programme. As you may already know, the prize in our Van-Tastic 2021 campaign is an electric van to help our members see the benefits of eco-friendly services within business and reduce their carbon footprint through all parts of their supply chain – like how they deliver their products. Our supporting suppliers also provide incentives to win Van-Tastic tickets often through our members selling on eco-friendly products too.
Our Spring Forward campaign aims to add on to this mission, and provide more environmentally conscious prizes as a thanks to our members. With prizes like Halford vouchers, Red Letter Days and an electric bike, we continue to expand the ways we support the green way of business.
